Planning data

This site publishes planning case references, case types, dates, descriptions of proposed works and decisions, and site boundaries and site areas where a register publishes them — not every register does. Where a product covers them, it also publishes public works tenders and public grant awards. All of these come from the official registers of every country we cover. Each country's method page names its own sources, publisher and licence.

We do not collect private individuals' names

We do not collect the names of private individuals who apply for planning permission. Where an application is made by a company, institution or other organisation, we record the organisation. Where it is made by a private person, their name and address are discarded when we process the notice and are never stored.

This is a deliberate design choice, not a display setting. The information is discarded at the point we process each notice, so it is not held in our database, our search index or our backups. We keep only a flag recording that an application came from a private individual rather than an organisation, so that we can count how many do without knowing who they are.

One exception, and only for Malta: we keep the authority’s original source material — the Government Gazette PDFs and the planning authority’s own record for each case — exactly as published, so that our figures can be checked. It can contain the names of private individuals; those names are never copied into our database, our search index or any page.

Organisations

Where an applicant is a company, institution or other organisation, we record and publish it. Information about an organisation acting commercially in a public planning process is not personal data in the ordinary case. Where an organisation's name incorporates a person's name, we process it on the basis of legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR) — transparency in public development and providing a business information service.

Where a register names them, architects, designers and other licensed professionals are named to signed-in subscribers, because a licensed professional acting in a public planning or procurement process is not a private individual. Their names are not published on the open web. Private individuals who apply in their own name are discarded when we process the record and are never entered into our database, our search index or our backups.

Energy-certificate addresses come from ADEME’s public register of energy performance certificates (DPE). No owner’s name is ever shown, and the full address is shown only to subscribers; everyone else sees the street and the town.

Your email address

When you ask us for a sample lead or more information, or create an account, we store your email address and what you asked for. We use it to send what you asked for, to sign you in, and to bill and serve a subscription. Our email-delivery provider and our payment provider process it for those purposes only. We never sell it, and we never send you anything you did not ask for. We delete it whenever you ask us by email.

Your rights

You have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, port, and object to our processing of your personal data. To exercise any of these, email contact@planningintel.com. We aim to respond within 30 days.

If a record on this site relates to you and you want it removed, tell us. We maintain a suppression list, so a record removed on request stays removed even after we refresh our data from the public registers.

You may also complain to the data protection authority of your own country, or to the Maltese Information and Data Protection Commissioner (IDPC), where we are established.

Analytics and advertising

We use Google Analytics to count visits and Google Ads to tell whether an advert led to a subscription. Both stay switched off until you say yes: before that they store nothing on your device and send no identifier. If you accept, four cookies are set — two for Google Analytics (_ga and _ga_N97BJYYF65) to recognise a returning visit, one for Google Ads (_gcl_au) to link a subscription back to the advert that brought you, and our own pi-consent, which records your answer so we stop asking. You can change your answer at any time from the link at the bottom of any page. We do not sell your data and we do not use it to follow you across other websites.

How pages are used

Only if you accept on the cookie banner, each page tells us - without any cookie and without storing anything on your device - how long it took to appear, how long it was on screen, which parts of it came into view, which buttons and links were pressed, whether a form was started, sent or rejected, and whether it hit an error, so we can see whether a page works for the people it is written for. Never what you type. It is linked only to a pseudonymous code that changes every day, it is never shared, and it is deleted after 90 days. If you refuse or do not answer, nothing is sent. You can change your answer at any time from the link at the bottom of any page.

Separately, we may ask one question on a page: what you were hoping to find. To improve the service, we store only the choice you tap, the page path, country, language, arrival source (search, advert, direct or other) and device type. Nothing can be typed, and nothing is stored on your device: no identifier, no cookie, no browser storage.
